It will start off with local successes (often fragmented, on different systems) and eventually reach a point where it becomes clear that a central strategy, and standards are required. But even at this point, some employees may never use it directly... This is an evolution, and it won't happen overnight...letting go of a 100 years of management practice to a network approach is not a slight thing. This mindset might take 10 years. What really speeds it up, is when we have mainstream role model companies influencing others eg. Cisco. Great post. I really have to catch up with your blog, I admire your work.
