Delicious is dead ? Try Diigo !

-

The annoucement came earlier in the day:  Yahoo! decided to shut Delicious down.  Bad news for the millions users that have been using Delicious to manage their bookmark..and even more.

Some users already know what they will use to replace Delicious but I think the wide majority have no idea of what to do.

As for me, I’ve been using Diigo since my very first steps on the social web but moved to Diigo two years and half ago. The reason : the service was not evolving as fast as I was expecting…and I found what I wanted elsewhere. At Diigo. Here’s what I wrote at this time.

Since there’s never been a single moment when I regreted my choice. The service is moving fast and offers many interesting things for a personal use (alone..), social (with other users) and in private groups (for work or teamwork use for ewample)….

Btw…there’s an automatic import feature for Delicious bookmaks.

With time, the service came to a freemium model. Most users will have enough with the free version and advanced ones will find the $40/y premium offer very attracting to have “everything unlimited”, what is the plan I chosed because I use highlights a lot and appreciate to be able to save diagrams and charts with my annotations…

That’s all. There’s certainly other alternatives but, for Delicious new “homeless users”, it may be interesting to know what’s been meeting all my needs for a couple of years.
